The 2018 Summer Jazz Workshop is accepting students from across Canada, the USA and around the world. The two week workshop provides participants with access to high quality instruction in jazz and the opportunity to perform and record with other students and professionals who share their interest and passion for the music.
Up to fifty music students will be selected through a recorded audition process. Successful applicants attend daily classes and rehearsals that included combo rehearsals, master classes, workshops, improvisation clinics, listening sessions and professional concerts. Participants will be selected on the basis of talent and proficiency. Special consideration will be given to high school age students who demonstrate exceptional ability.
At the end of the first week of the workshop, all combos will perform a Gala Concert at the Jazz Bistro and record in Humber’s state-of-the-art recording studio. Each student will receive an mp3 copy of their combo’s studio session.
Scholarship funds for qualified students and travel subsidies for out-of-town participants may be available.
Registration Fee: $800 (covers full two week workshop)
